    Nah, you lost me at 'not knowing coding= lazy'. That's ableist- some of us are neurodiverse in ways which are simply not compatible with traditional coding, hence having to find other ways of programming. Don't call people lazy when you don't know someone's reason for being ""lazy"". This is the quickest I've disliked and bailed on a gamedev video, and I watch plenty.

    • @Micshgasm
      @Micshgasm День тому

      I agree calling people lazy seems like an unnecessary jab but I took it as advice to newcomers that programming is important to making games in case this is the first video they've seen about making games. I'm curious what other ways of programming you might be referring to?

    Over the years I tried Unreal, Unity, Godot, PyGame and writing games in Vanilal JS. However after one day with Defold I'm sure that Defold will be my choice for almost any 2D platform, for any 2D game. Its free and have maybe small, but really good community. Check it out guys!

    Thank me later but people should try making Roblox Games, as A Roblox game developer the Roblox studio does a lot of things for us and Lua is a easy programming language, It has a Big Community and It's much easier to earn money than normal indie devs as roblox already advertises to a large base with kids who have a lot of robux

    "No Experience" yet the first statement is "I've been a Unity developer for 6 years." No experience suggests that you do not already have a background in game dev that would make the learning curve way easier.

    I would like to say "I think godot is important to new developers because it's free" but ue and unity are cheap enough they may as well be free. If you include the dumb games that are stupidly simple, yeah, you shouldn't add multiplayer, however, with how advanced and easy to implement multiplayer, I'm unsure why people are still saying not to add it to your first proper game.

  • @bloodyidit4506
    @bloodyidit4506 3 дні тому

    Unity usually has a lot of bloat so simple games tend to stall and framerate drop for no reason. Godot's a LOT simpler, has good documentation, is pretty much exactly as deep as Unity if not more due to how people are evolving it, and doesn't have the drama of taking unreasonable cuts like Unity's business has been doing retroactively. Blender's also open-source, which should tell you how quality dedicated open source projects are (high as hell quality). Corporate owned engines are definitely not worth the cost and companies tank the cost because they already start with capital. Oh and given how bad the game industry actually is to work for, you're better off building a discord group of indie devs if you want to make a game. Go out there, network. There's plenty of nice people.

    Unity is basically spyware, zero transperacy on what they collect, data collection is undisclose opt-in by default devs have to go out of their way to give players an opt out. This is illegal in EU and some other juristictions, it will the devs not unity that end up being fined

    I want to make a puzzle game and at first I was thinking Godot due to a few other videos, but now that I see VisualScripting is built into Unity (it's been 20 years since I coded), it's community is huge, and that I could potentially take those skills I'm learning to a job, I think Unity is the way to go! Thank you for the great video.

    • @samyam
      @samyam 4 дні тому

      @@samyam Gotcha! I get the sense though because I want to make a 2d (with 3d elements) puzzle game to start my dev "career" Unity would be the way to go from yours and others vids. I thought about GoDot and doing a code bootcamp, but I think? I'd like to have transferable skills to jobs perhaps...considering I have very little time as an editor currently to spend learning new things haha.

    • @samyam
      @samyam 11 годин тому

      @@fixorbricks For sure, for job market though I believe Unreal pays more $$ in general because it’s used more for AAA games, however you do usually need to have a lot of specialized experience first to get into AAA. But there are lots of studios that use Unity and VR studios. But if you’re going for 2D, unity is a better bet.
